Management of Thornton le Dale Cemetery

The Cemetery is managed by the approved contractor to Thornton Le Dale Parish Council. The contract includes the cutting of all lawned grass areas, the strimming around graves and hedges, and general maintenance of the cemetery.

Memorial benches are situated around the cemetery, these are also maintained by the Parish Council and are there for the use of all visitors for quiet contemplation. Both a water tap (situated by the entrance) and wheelie bin are provided for visitors to use at their discretion and convenience. Please note the water tap is switched off during the winter months, therefore visitors should make their own provision for water during this time.

Please can the rules of the cemetery be observed, and the lawned areas kept clear. All ornaments should be securely fixed on to the grave plinth to avoid being blown onto the grass, which should be kept clear at all times to allow the contractors to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently. A copy of the full set of rules for all visitors is attached above. Thank you
